Disaster
and Emergency Relief:
No
one is ever fully prepared for a disaster, yet traumatic
events like earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis do
occur around the world every year. AIMS' relief initiatives
do not replace the efforts of dozens of agencies that
focus specifically on disaster relief. Our focus is
to use relief efforts as an open door to mobilize national
churches to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
 Tsunami
Relief and Development
On
December 26, 2004,
the world witnessed one of the most devastating
events in history. A tsunami hit a region of the
world that is home to many people who have no
access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We at AIMS
quickly realized that we must not let this horrific
disaster pass without mobilizing our efforts,
and those with whom we partner, to respond in
a loving and strategic manner.
Within
a couple days, AIMS had established a Tsunami
Relief and Development Fund to provide immediate
emergency relief and assist in the continuing
process of long-term development in areas that
have been the most greatly affected by this disaster.
