Horn of Africa Epicenter

Located in Northeast Africa, the Horn of Africa is home to more than 125 million people, with Ethiopia positioned in its center. Since 1996, AIMS has partnered with the Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia (ECFE) to train leaders and missionaries to create a national missions movement within their country. As a result, revival has spread throughout Ethiopia, including the Rift Valley.

Although Ethiopia has a strong Christian heritage, many of her surrounding countries like Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia contain more than 200 people groups with no significant church presence. Members of the ECFE believe that Ethiopia is strategically placed to reach this vital region as well as Northern Africa and the Middle East.

Force of Evangelism in the Horn of Africa

The Horn of Africa Epicenter will focus on the missions force already in Ethiopia. Throughout the past decade, the ECFE has raised up 542 cross-cultural missionaries and more than 10,000 field workers already ministering among unreached villages throughout the country. Some missionaries are already working in Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti.

Vision:

Partner with the missionary leadership of Ethiopia for effective mobilization and deployment of Gospel workers in the Horn of Africa in order to foster church planting movements in the area and to the Middle East and North Africa.

Our goal is to help implement national missions movements in the Horn of Africa resulting in church planting movements in all of its unreached ethnic groups and the deployment of national missionaries to regions beyond the Horn of Africa.

Strategy:

Equip key leaders within the Evangelical Church Fellowship of Ethiopia (ECFE) with the knowledge and materials they need to train other leaders throughout Ethiopia in missions.

Develop a national mobilization tool which will allow the national leaders to work with AIMS in developing their own training materials that are consistent with their culture.

Provide consultation and networking services to help the ECFE develop their own Missionary Training Schools to train their own missionary candidates.

Co-sponsor regional networking training for believers in the surrounding countries of Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti.

Consult partners throughout the Horn of Africa to help them effectively deploy national missionaries to the region and beyond.
