I cut my teeth on T.L. Osborn-style mass evangelism. During my short tenure of ministry I have seen thousands of people come to salvation in Jesus through crusades, park drama outreaches and door-to-door personal evangelism. But until now I have never been part of something that has the potential of reaching millions in a short period of time.
I believe mass evangelism has its place, but to rely exclusively on it is like going to war with only artillery; it packs a punch but it’s big, unwieldy and very costly. What is needed to compliment the artillery is a fast, agile, lethal team of Special Forces who, before the army shows up, can move behind enemy lines and wreak havock on the enemy’s infrastructure. Thus, we believe that training national leaders to field and support their own team (their own missionaries) is a necessary tool for completing the Great Commission in our generation.
In November, I accompanied the AIMS’ South Asia Coordinator, Van Bloss on a trip to North India where I participated in training Indian leaders how to send out their own missionaries to the vast unreached people groups of their country. I watched bright-eyed pastors being trained how to equip their churches and denominations with our Equipping for the Harvest material. I was moved in my spirit as one brother testified how the AIMS training had caused his church to adopt an unreached Indian group, to raise the funding necessary and send out their own missionaries. As I taught and witnessed the effectiveness of the AIMS training I realized why God brought me to AIMS.

As I have worked in ministry over the last decade, both in my local church and outside the US, I have seen that God wants us to not only bear fruit, but fruit that remains. I also became convinced that the only way to accomplish this is to empower others to do the work of the ministry in their own context, and it was during my work in India that God showed me how I could do this. I saw the effect the AIMS training is having on the church in India.
We have a glorious opportunity to partner with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in His mission to restore His rule on Earth. We need to find where God is working and join Him in his labor. I am experiencing this partnership with AIMS as we equip pastors and leaders how to empower their people to fulfill the task of taking the gospel the least reached peoples in the world. I don’t know about you, but to me this is life changing!
Jesus told his disciples in Jn. 4:34 “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” Jesus’ sustenance was to do the Father’s will and to finish it. Our meat is the same. In my heart I have believed for some time that we could see closure to the Great Commission. But now I can finally see how.
