Leaders Develop Strategies to Reach Unreached People
Groups Around the World
AIMS
News: Posted 5/1/2004
In
March, 47 ministry leaders, pastors and students participated
in the annual AIMS' Unreached Peoples Consultation at
Regent University in Virginia Beach. During the week,
partnerships and networks formed focusing on several
key areas: Africa, China, Indonesia, and India. By the
end of the consultation, everyone who participated unanimously
pre-registered for next year's consultation.
Each
year, AIMS offers the opportunity for leaders and workers
from various organizations to meet and network together
with other ministry leaders working around the world.
Through strategy sessions, these leaders were able to
brainstorm and develop strategies pertaining to their
area of influence. As a result, participants in each
of the sessions have developed solid goals for the upcoming
year.
During
the Africa strategy sessions, participants planned to
reach the unreached through developing a clean water
network, businesses, and ministry to political leaders
of each country. Leaders of each strategy agreed to
schedule a planning meeting within the next six months
to organize a consultation within the next year.
Each
person participating in the strategy session on China
agreed to form a prayer group to specifically pray for
Chinaís 450 unreached people groups. Leaders
soon discovered that each personís strength met
another personís need within the group. They
decided to form a network to communicate these specific
ministry needs and strengths throughout the next year.
One
participant admitted that the consultation was not what
she had expected. "If I had known what this consultation
was about, I probably would not have registered,"
she said. "However, now that I've had this experience,
I am excited about what is coming next."
Leaders
from the International Pentecostal Holiness Church,
Evangel Bible Translators, TellAsia, the Caleb Project
and Fuel International all participated in the consultation
and pre-registered for the 2005 event. They all believe
that the strategies developed at this consultation will
bear much fruit for the kingdom of God throughout the
rest of the year and plan to give a full report at the
next Unreached Peoples Consultation scheduled for March
2005.
