Plan to Reach Nomads
through Humanitarian Aid
AIMS News: Posted 7/1/2004
About
45% of the population in Mongolia is nomadic. Harsh
winters force these nomads to seek shelter and protect
their cattle from freezing to death. Many migrate to
winter camps where they can help each other survive
as the temperatures drop to an average of -60 degrees
Fahrenheit. There are no known churches among them.
During the May AIMS conference in Mongolia,
several leaders expressed a desire to reach these nomads
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but they did not know
where to begin. They hope to begin renovating old communist
buildings and turning them into centers for the church
and community. However, these community centers would
not reach the nomads.
As
"Titus" (AIMS International Director) and
"Pastor Samuel" met with the leaders, they
discussed the possibility of using humanitarian aid
to reach the winter camps. Local churches in Mongolia
could send teachers, doctors, dentists and other health
care workers to minister to the nomads, physically and
spiritually. All efforts would promote church-planting
efforts among the nomads. Continue to pray for the believers
and churches in Mongolia as they begin planning this
exciting outreach opportunity. Ask God for a harvest
among the nomads.
