| National
Ministry Takes on a New Name
AIMS
News: Posted 10/1/2005
Since
2004, the Dearborn outreach has connected teenagers
and young adults with the viable mission field right
here in the United States. Throughout the next year,
"Philip" (AIMS Team Strategy Coordinator)
plans to expand the ministry to include cities such
as New York City, Orlando, and Washington, DC. In September,
he officially named the project Philip 8.4.8.
Nearly
one million people immigrate to the United States every
year. Many of these people come from countries where
evangelism is illegal and Christians are openly persecuted.
Focusing on Acts 8:4-8, Philip decided to model the
national outreaches after the story of Philip in the
New Testament.
By
connecting teenagers, young adults, youth pastors, and
interested laypeople with communities of unreached people
groups within our own country, Philip hopes to interest
them in further cross-cultural ministry. Each team will
be trained in evangelism, form partnerships with churches
already working within these communities, and have the
opportunity to share the Gospel with Muslims and Hindus
living in America.
Because
each ministry trip is unique, church teams can utilize
their own special talents on the field. Opportunities
include street evangelism, tract distribution, drama
and dance ministry, children's ministry, puppetry, worship,
prayer and intercession.
