Welcomes a New President
AIMS
News: Posted 2/1/2006
For
the past twenty years, Dr. Howard Foltz has faithfully
built and served the ministry of AIMS as founder and
president. But as the organization continues to grow
and expand into new regions, the need for someone to
take over daily administrative aspects of the ministry
became apparent. After an extensive search, Dan Crosby
joined the AIMS family in January as the new president.
Although
new to the staff at AIMS, Dan has been very involved
in the ministry of AIMS. In 1999, Dr. Howard Foltz taught
the Harvest Connection seminar at Dan's church,
Living Stones Fellowship Church in Crown Point, Indiana.
Already active in missions, the church decided to become
more focused on unreached people groups. They adopted
the Somalis living in Tanzania and began to develop
a strategy to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The church formed a new missions organization called
Fuel International. As the church's missions pastor,
Dan Crosby assumed leadership of the new organization.
He also joined AIMS as a non-residential coordinator
for East Africa.
Throughout
the next four years, Fuel International sent ten teams
into Tanzania. They located a settlement of 6,000 Somali
refugees and began to minister to them. They built homes,
dug wells, administered medical camps, and befriended
the children. In 2003, they experienced a breakthrough.
Twenty-three of the camp's leaders and 100 Somalis seeking
medical treatment accepted Jesus Christ. The camp "governor"
donated land to begin the first known Somali church.
Then, in September 2005,

Fuel
International sent a three-year team to Tanzania to
train and mobilize pastors and missionaries across the
country to begin similar ministry efforts among the
31 remaining unreached people groups in the country.
Under
Dan's leadership, Fuel International flourished. In
addition to Tanzania, the organization sent teams to
El Salvador, Ghana, Mexico, Brazil, China, and India.
But when Living Stones Fellowship began to move in a
new direction, Dan and his wife Maria sensed that God
was guiding them into a new era of ministry.
In
2005, Dan and Maria visited Dr. Howard Foltz in Virginia
Beach to find out how Fuel International could continue
working with AIMS. When Dr. Foltz mentioned the position
to him, Dan prayed about the open door and accepted
it. Living Stones Fellowship released Dan from his position
of Missions Pastor and agreed to "plant" him
within the ministry of AIMS.
"I
know of no one else who shares Dan's experience, gifts,
and understanding of AIMS," said Dr. Howard Foltz,
who will continue to serve AIMS as CEO, mentoring Dan
and providing oversight for the global direction of
the ministry. "Please welcome Dan and Maria Crosby
to AIMS with your prayers, growing partnership, and
encouragement."
