AIMS
Partners with Kindred Agency in Singapore
AIMS
News: Posted 4/1/2006
In
January, AIMS joined with the Singapore Centre for Evangelism
and Missions (SCEM) in a united effort to train national
pastors in Singapore to mobilize and equip their churches
to engage in cross-cultural missions and to reach the
unreached in Southeast Asia with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
"Singapore
possesses the potential to be a significant player in
the completion of the Great Commission," said Dr.
Howard Foltz, founder and CEO of AIMS, who referred
to the nation as the Antioch of Asia. "The Singaporeans
can be outstanding messengers in many places where Americans
and other Westerners are no longer welcome."
SCEM
was created in 1980 to serve as a center of world missions
in Singapore and mobilize national churches to become
more active and effective in missions work. The organizationís
focus on mobilization, training, and resources fits
perfectly with AIMS' current
Equipping for the Harvest model.
Dr.
Howard Foltz and "Gideon," AIMS Director of
Asia, launched the partnership in January by holding
the first ever Mobilizer Training of Mission Trainers
at SCEM. Thirty-two leaders from 8 different mission
agencies, pastors from various churches, and mission
committee leaders from every denomination in Singapore
participated.
"Dr.
Foltz challenged us to fulfill the fundamental tasks
of Harvest Connection," wrote one representative
on SCEM's website. "The training was intensive,
comprehensive, and essential."
Upon
completion of the training, all 32 participants were
certified as AIMS International Associates, making them
able to use AIMS materials to mobilize and equip churches
across Singapore in missions. SCEM plans to incorporate
Harvest
Connection, Faith Promise Giving,
and Final Focus Adoption Seminar into their
training schedule this year.
AIMS
staff plans to return in 2007 to train trainers in the
next phase of mobilization ministry.
