Outreaches Continue to Change Lives in Michigan
AIMS
News: Posted 10/1/2006
In
June, 40 adults joined AIMS' Philip 8.4.8 ministry in
its third annual outreach in Dearborn, Michigan. Home
to the highest concentration of Arabs outside the Middle
East, Dearborn
is one of four metropolitan cities chosen by Philip
8.4.8 Ministries. Teams from various churches unite
to minister through music, drama, park ministries, and
street evangelism. Their efforts have reached hundreds
of people in the region - like "Jana."
Jana
was afraid to die. Just a teenager, four of her friends
had died within two months. Fear consumed her, leaving
her constantly sad and weary. One afternoon, she answered
a knock on the door of her home in Dearborn, Michigan.
The two women on the other side introduced themselves
and explained that they had come from Virginia Beach.
After hearing her story, they began to tell her about
Jesus.
Jana's
story touched Paula, a member of the 2006 team: "We
were able to explain to her that Jesus had given the
ultimate sacrifice on the cross, but when He rose from
the dead, He took the sting out of death, and as Christians
we have no fear of death."
Paula
shared with Jana how she could have that ultimate peace
and prayed with her to receive Jesus Christ. Paula continued:
"I was in awe of what the Holy Spirit had just
done and was literally speechless for the remainder
of the evening. Who knows what this could mean for an
entire community or even for a generation of people?"
Philip
8.4.8 partners with local churches in each metropolitan
city, which follow up with individuals who decided to
follow Jesus Christ or who wanted to learn more about
the Bible.
