Islamic Laws Inhibit Ministry Efforts in Indonesia
AIMS
News: Posted 12/1/2006
INDONESIA:
Dozens of regions throughout Indonesia have enacted
sharia-style bylaws, strict Islamic laws. At the same
time, Islamic radicals have begun attacking various
Muslim minority sects and closed churches in surrounding
regions. According to the Jakarta Post (September
9, 2006), "the police has done nothingÖneither
has the central government scrutinized the regional
bylaws."
Our
sources in Indonesia have asked us to pray. The situation
has greatly inhibited their church planting efforts,
since every district affected is an unreached region.
The few churches that were planted have been burned
down.
