New
Book Re-Examines Jesus' Agricultural View of the Spiritual
Harvest
VIRGINIA
BEACH, VA: Western culture is increasingly
dominated by technology. A new book, titled Paradigm
Lost: Rediscovering God's Plan for Spiritual Harvest,
asks an important question: since we are so far removed
from the agricultural viewpoint that dominates Scripture,
have we lost the ability to grasp what Jesus meant when
He used words like sowing, reaping, and harvesting in
relation to evangelism and missions?
Written
by Dr. Howard Foltz, Founder and President of Accelerating
International Mission Strategies (AIMS) and Professor
of Global Evangelization at Regent University, along
with Ruth Ford, this book proposes that Jesus did not
use these words only because He spoke to a primarily
agrarian culture. Paradigm Lost suggests that
Jesus used this imagery because it best illustrates
the organic nature of growing Godís Kingdom.
In
Paradigm Lost, the authors look at Scripture
through the eyes of a farmer. They explain how technology
has reshaped our worldview. Then, they go back through
agricultural processes, finding spiritual applications
for the task of evangelism and missions. This book is
a call to local fellowships everywhere and to individual
Christians as well, to restore the harvest mentality
evident in Jesus' words. The book also gives step-by-step
examples of how to implement this farming paradigm for
more effective evangelism in our neighborhoods, in our
country, and throughout the world.
